Novi, Mich. – Is it soreness, or a serious injury? That’s a scary question for many student athletes and their parents. It can take two weeks of waiting to see an orthopedic expert before they get an answer, and by then, half of their playing season may be lost. Or, even worse, an injured athlete may have “played through the pain,” doing themselves serious damage. The CORE Institute wants to change all that.
The CORE Institute is opening a Saturday Sports Injury Walk-In Clinic at their Novi location for the third year in a row. This program is in alignment with their ‘2-Day Athlete Guarantee’, which promises to evaluate any athlete with an acute injury within 48 hours.
Throughout the fall season, the clinic will be staffed by a sports medicine specialist. The CORE Institute team will also have access to a full range of diagnostic imaging equipment, including X-ray.
“The CORE Institute already has a great reputation in the community for their dedication to sports medicine,” said Bob Ogar, athletic trainer at Detroit Catholic Central High School. “As a high school athletic trainer, it is important that our athletes receive prompt care after their injury. This seasonal injury clinic provides our athletes with an immediate recovery plan with a guarantee they’ll see an orthopedic specialist to start the treatment path urgently, and gives families and our coaching staff peace of mind.”
“Whether our patients are high school or college athletes, this program makes student athletes a top priority because we know they want to get back in the game as soon as possible if they can,” said Dr. Jefferey Michaelson, Orthopedic Sports Medicine Physician at The CORE Institute. “A two-day turn-around time showcases our commitment to the sports medicine community and the importance for young men and women to continue being active in their favorite sport.”
The CORE Institute Saturday Sports Injury Clinic promises quick and cost-effective care for patients of all ages for acute, non-urgent sports injuries including: Sprains and strains, closed fractures and possible fractures, minor dislocations, or other sports-related injuries. The clinic will not be staffed to evaluate concussions or neck injuries.
The program runs every Saturday from September 8 until October 20, 2018, from 8:30am until 10:30am. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary. Most insurances are accepted. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The CORE Institute – Novi is located at 26750 N Providence Parkway, Suite 200, Novi, MI 48374.
